La Tour Eiffel construction began on January 28, 1887, and ended on March 31, 1889. The construction took around 27 months to complete. This very known and famous monument was designed and constructed by Gustave Eiffel, after whom the monument was also named. The Eiffel tower was built for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. The Eiffel tower stands 10,000 feet high in the sky with an extra 65 feet with its antenna. 


FUN FACTS ! 
  The Eiffel Tower needs to be repainted every seven years.
   In 1909, the Eiffel Tower was intended to be demolished but because it served as a radio antenna in World War I, it was saved.
   The structure of the Eiffel Tower was originally intended to be built in Barcelona but it was          rejected and is now the most visited structure in Paris.
   During the colder months the Eiffel Tower is actually shorter by 15 cm. !

Erika Eiffel actually married the Eiffel Tower during a ceremony in 2007
